Arrived

Arrived Thursday at noon in an exhausted state. Headach, burning eyes, and totally wiped out. Next time I take straight thru flights. Three legs was two too many. Today was trying to figure out whether it was time to eat, sleep, or play. Poor Theo was very mixed up and up half the night. Today he had one long nap so tomorrow we hope to go downtown in the am. All plans are subject to change, tho. Teddie, Theo and I did make it to the supermarket and the pastry shop. Spanakopita is good any time of day!!! Hopefully Theo will be in bed by 9... asleep.

Yes

Yes, I arrived home and have been trying to catch up ever since. Subbing at local middle school all this week. Unfortunatly the day goes from 7:10 till 2:40. It is close to home and I like the kids, but 7.5 hours is too long and 7:10 is too early of a start time. I will not sub again till after June 12, when I arrive home from my 10 week stay in Greece. So... I've been throwing things in the suitcase and am determined to travel light, after throwing my back out when I took Teddie to SFO on the last trip. In the meantime Teddie has had dinner guests over 4 out of the last 7 nights. If you picture a wildly revolving hurricane, just about to touch land... that's what it's been like. Am leaving on Wed. for Greece.

Contraption

I was amazed at the gear that this palm tree trimmer had to use. There were three men who did nothing but trim coconut trees at KVR ... full time. There are over 2000 such trees on the resort. Without constant trimming they said that the falling fronds and the nuts pose a very real hazard to anyone walking below.

End of Road Hawi

Lookout

This was taken on lookout spot from Waimea to Hawi. You can tell by the bottom photo that the wind was really blowing.

Bamboo (Restaurant)

funky 100+ year old restaurant in Hawi, a bit of unspoiled Hawaii

Arrest that Girl

Visitors were only supposed to use cell phones in their hales, but it was hard for mom to resist the familiar ring!!

Haiku - Kona

Kona today saw
yellow and blue fish darting
away, below me

Haiku: difficult
to write while palm fronds
rustle above me

Arrived

iYes, I did arrive in HI. Has not been sunny, mostly cloudy and extremely windy. No one has ever seen such winds this time of year. Big question..Have I gone in the ocean?? Yes, twice. Swam back and forth looking at blue and yellow fish swimming below. In fact I wrote some haiku about it, but they are at the hale and I am not. Having a great time with my parents relaxing and eating. We did drive with a friend of theirs to Hawi and had lunch at a funky restaurant, Bamboo. Even the toilet seat was funky!!! A little brighter today. Maybe the sun will peek out. Sorry I haven't figured out how to post pictures. This is a mac. Aloha.
