stitches out

Lalee had her stitches out this morning. We all hope she will soon accompany us to the beach--especially Old Man. She'd be much more entertaining than a treatise on engine amperatude. --Jesse

one bum short

For a self-proclaimed beach bum, there could be no greater torture than keeping your foot elevated while family and friends gather by lifeguard stand 5. --Jesse

Laurie's lympoma

Grandma's surgery went well, yesterday...or at least, that's what the doctor said. Evelyn and I dropped her off at the hospital at 11 am and picked her up at 2:30 pm. If you look closely at her toes, you'll notice a bluish tinge--apparently, the soap dyed her foot blue.

Grandma Lalee is stuck downstairs, recovering from her surgery. Two days ago, she introduced Evelyn to the thrill of watering her flower garden. --Jesse

Two and a half days to go...

Just got an e-mail from Ted alerting us to his arrival time on Sunday. It was titled
"Ted's Itinerary back to Reality." After 6 months in Greece in that quiet apartment, he may need ear plugs and tranquilizers. The air conditioner is all set. I will be downstairs, with my foot elevated above my heart waiting for a kiss.

Notice anything New??

No comments yet on one of the coolest new things on my blog. Can you hear it???

Rainbow Chicken Chili

Easy crock pot meal made by Teddie and Josh this past weekend. I was hoping there would be some left for you, Jesse, but it is disappearing.... fast. Will be a great recipe for this week since Belmonts has chicken breasts for 1.99/lb through Friday.
Dump 1" pieces of cut up chicken breasts, drained cans of black, red and white beans, and two jars or more of salsa into a crock pot. Turn on high till chicken is cooked. May need to be stirred a couple times during cooking. When ready to eat top with broken corn tortillas and grated cheese. You could also add chopped olives, corn, green onions, or edamame beans depending on how colorful you want your rainbow to be.
Thanks for sharing your recipe, T & J. It was good.

4th of July

Visitors included Josh, Teddie and Theo. At 9:15 pm the sky above Old Mountain Field, which we can see from our porch, exploded with booms and bursts. OOOhs and Ahhhs floated in the leaves as the show progressed, and ended with the familiar white orbs dancing in the sky. I couldn't help but think of all the men and women through out the world who dodged bullets and bombs today, while I sat safe, enjoying a show that sounded like war. Theo heard none of it, as the water machine that he goes to sleep with was turned up on high. Third fourth without Ted.
