Visitng my parents friends

Our second stop on our trip to the coast was at this house, on the top of a hill in Soquel. These people are long time friends of my parents. Look at the size of the monster lemon on their tree.

Enframing Press - Aptos, CA.

Two years ago I sold my 100 plus year old letterpress on Craigs List to a young couple who live in Aptos, near Santa Cruz. My parents and I drove over the mountains today to visit and see their shop. We were really impressed. They both quit their full time jobs to take up printing... and they do beautiful work. You can see some of on enframingpress.com (or something like that). I felt so happy knowing my press was actually being used... instead of being junked for the metal. The bottom photo shows how close they live to the ocean. It was a beautiful spot.

Musseling @ Pescadero #1

At low tide rocks popped up all over Pescadero State Beach. Hundreds of crazy humans, and I mean hundreds, were there dressed for a blizzard. It was extremely windy and cold, but GORGEOUS. Eight different groups had big pots set up to cook the mussels. I did not eat any, but my sister-in-laws father, Bob was the master chef. If you like to pry rubbery orange stuff out of a shell... this was the place to be.
My brother, Matt, an experienced musseler, teaches Kristine's brother what to do.

Visiting my Cousin

This is my first cousin, daughter of Aunt Evy and Uncle Clyde. We had a nice visit yesterday in San Mateo where she lives. It was 65 degrees and sunny. A beautiful day!! In the last photo we see her with her husband.

More Saturday

photos from the tribute that Foothill College held

Saturday

Some of the family members went to the cemetary to check out Grandma's headstone. From there we went to Foothill College for the ceremony that the school held. The celebration began at 1:00 pm, the start time for football games. We had matching shirts with the number 60 on the front. That 60 represented the 60 minutes of a football game.
