My first attempt at using pastels. This tree is on Century Drive in Middleton and was full bloom last week. I prefer drawing outside so I walked over, plopped on the lawn and began to draw, smear, etc. In the midst of my drawing, school must have let out because a group of five teenage girls sauntered by and while I was looking down, they ran to the tree and began climbing it. I was at least 75 yards away so they probably didn't even notice me. Seeing teenage girls having such a good time made me smile.
I got a little braver and after watching some internet videos on using pastels and tried to copy the packaging that my canna lillies came in. Proportions are not perfect, but I like the effect.
Jesse wanted some anatomy related drawings to put on her office walls. The first is untouched. The second is altered. I can't help it!!! I love changing contrasts/colors. Any of you in the medical field will know that the picture is not accurate. Artists have free license to change/interpret anything!! Leave a comment if you think you know what the drawing I copied was of.
You may wonder what started me in my use of pastels. While looking for any art class that would fit into my convoluted schedule I came across an introductory pastel class on June 22 in WI and signed up. Once I had the supplies I couldn't resist.
