One of my daily duties includes making four of these trays of gigantic brownies, cutting them, and wrapping them individually with saran wrap. Today I also learned how to make sandwiches and wrap them in saran wrap. Tomorrow I'll try to post a picture of another duty. (It won't be the dishwasher one.... that we'll save for last!!!) Weather has been great with occasional rain showers in the late afternoon. I have yet to wear a sweatshirt.
chronicling the comings and goings of a family separated by oceans, corn fields, white winters and time ...

International Crane Foundation - Wisconsin
Hint: Click to enlarge some of the smaller photos.
Sculpture
The property had numerous trails, but since it was 90 out we only hiked a little.
The figures in the middle of this photo are actually fake people, but from a distance it looked like a real group of scientists!!!
Another picture of a scientist banding a crane... pretty realistic, no??
We saw 15 different varieties of cranes. The docent was a college intern and very well informed. Tour was 2 hours long!!!
mural at ICF
Another fake person. This one represents a Chinese scientist who is trying to protect cranes in her country. The ICF is a non profit group that has it's headquarters in WI, only an hour north of us. We were both impressed with the work they do to save cranes worldwide from extinction. The grounds were beautiful, tour was very informative, and we bought a year long membership. We hope to return in the fall.

Rotary Botanical Park - Janesville, WI
Only an hour from Madison, this was a gorgeous site. We spent a good hour and a half just meandering.... and noticed that everyone else was doing the same. Very peaceful.

Nearby Walks
Top photo was taken at the end of a ten minute walk from our apt. Bottom one was taken on the Cross Plains section of the Ice Age Trail ( a twelve minute drive from our house).
