Packing

Monday we leave at 9 am to go to Hawaii, so I've started my pile on the floor. It grows bigger and bigger as I think of what I want to take. Weather in the Islands is 70 - 80 so Teddie had to mail me my short pants. Weather in PA is rainy one day, then bright blue and 50ish the next. I have no complaints!!

Wedding Shower

Anne & Laurie hosted a shower for Katie today.... Lunch was carrot soup, salad, John Pop's rolls, and trifle. While the women ate at 240 Kevin and Matt whisked JP away where he ate at the Peninsula Creamery for the 2nd time in two weeks. He said the strawberry shake was much better than the chocolate one. After the shower we all took naps...

For Carol

This is the pool, two blocks from my parent's, where I swim. I was all set to go today at 11:15, but 28,000 Palo Altans lost power for 10 hours today due to a small plane crash. No traffic lights, no school, no businesses open.... interesting day. Kind of reminded me of a snow day in RI, except that the people in CA are totally unprepared for any long term disruptions.

Freshly Painted Storeroom

This is the room that the press came out of. Porch & Floor paint made it look fantastic!!

Benicia, CA

The first state capitol of California, yes... in Benecia
interesting statue.... Benicia Marina in the backround
How can I look so good in one picture and so frumpy in the next???
Jane and Darryl were kind enough to take me to the quaint town of Benecia. On the way home we stopped at IKEA and a lobster restaurant to get mom and dad some clam chowder. Very tasty.

Peninsula Creamery

I took my dad to lunch at a eatery in PA that's been around since 1923 - Peninsula Creamery. Unfortunatly I forgot my camera, but my father and I sat on red leather stools at the counter and watched an employee do nothing but make milkshakes... one of the Creamery's signature items. It was jam packed. My father remarked that he remembered coming here in 1937 as a freshman at Stanford. "Things look the same," he said, "except for the prices." After lunch I worked in the vegetable garden in 60 plus weather, weeding , ripping out bok choy and planting peas. Also watered the 4 rhubarb plants that I put in last week. After walking the dog at 4:30 I went to Rinconada and had a quick swim. The weather is incredible!!! Weatherman says it should be in the mid 60's all week. Yeah for NO SNOW!

Guess what JP is doing....

I suspect that no one will get this right.... I had a hard time believing it myself.... I convinced him to put the folded yellow blanket on the floor when he knelt.

Spring in early February

My mother said that Washington DC is expecting 36 inches of snow!! Here, as you can tell by the photos, spring is right around the corner. Because of the Oriental Brush Painting class I'm in I've become more aware of what's blooming and carry my camera with me as I walk Bingo. The gorgeous pink flowers are either magnolia or tulip tree... they are spectacular....
